To be eligible for admission, applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law.

Up to twenty five (25) places are reserved to eligible foreign applicants as a matter of priority. The remaining ten (10) places may be covered by foreign and Greek applicants. If more than twenty five (25) foreigners apply, they will undergo an evaluation following the selection procedure and criteria mentioned herein below.

Prospective students must provide proof of at least very good knowledge (C1 Level Certificate) of the English language in accordance with Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CERF), as accepted by the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (ASEP) in Greece, an IELTS Academic score of 7.0 and above or a TOEFL iBT score of 94-101 and above. Students who have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree entirely taught in English are exempted once they provide proof of attending such a programme.

Selection procedure and criteria

The University admits students irrespective of nationality, race, religion, or gender, provided that they meet the admission criteria of the LL.M. Program. The LL.M. in International and European Business Law is designed for law graduates or graduates with a relevant academic or professional background, who wish to pursue advanced studies to specialise in the area of business law from an international and EU perspective. The admission criteria are based on the type and quality of previous studies, the grade obtained in previous studies, and the suitability of the candidate for the programme of study that has been applied for.

The University’s admission policy is to make admission offers to applicants who on account of their academic background and abilities are likely to benefit from university study and to complete the Programme.

Admission of Students with Special Needs

The University offers equal opportunities to all students regardless of their physical abilities. Candidates who have some form of disability which is mentioned in their application will be examined on equal terms as all other candidates.  Should any University employee reject a candidate due to physical disability then this is considered to be a disciplinary matter.

The candidates should explain in their application form the nature of their disability and inform the admissions office concerning the special needs they will require during their studies.

Application procedure

Candidates shall be evaluated in three stages.

1. In the first stage, the Program Registrar checks the completeness of the supporting documents and draws up a list of candidates who have submitted all the supporting documents within the allotted deadline. Any doubts or disputes shall be resolved by the Steering Committee of the Program (henceforth: SC).

2. In the second stage, the SC evaluates the candidates according to the following criteria and according to the points mentioned below per criterion, drafting a temporary evaluation report:

a) Grade average of the degree, adjusted to the ten-degree scale and subsequently multiplied by the coefficient of two and a half (2,5), with a maximum of twenty five (25) points.

b) Possession of another Master’s degree: two (2) points.

c) Possession of a Doctoral degree: three (3) points.

d) Very good knowledge (C1 level or above) of a second language (French or German or Italian or Spanish or Russian): one (1) point.

e) Very good knowledge (C1 level or above) of any third language (French or German or Italian or Spanish or Russian): one (1) point.

f) Research or writing activity: up to three (3) points.

g) Participation in student mobility training programs: one (1) point for each such participation and up to two (2) points in total.

h) Legal or relevant professional experience: up to three (3) points, attributing one (1) point for every two years.

3. The third stage involves candidates who have accumulated, according to the temporary evaluation report, at least seventeen (17) points (‘eligible candidates’). This stage includes an oral interview, conducted in English. Applicants shall be invited to participate by any appropriate means, particularly via e-mail. The interview receives a maximum of twenty (20) points.

4. The SC shall draft a final scorecard of the candidates in descending order of performance. In the event of a tie in the last place, a draw shall be made between the candidates before the SC. The scorecard is drafted without prejudice to the applications by foreign candidates that the SC may accept prior to the expiration of the deadline for applications.

5. Successful candidates shall be informed by the Program Registrar by any appropriate means, in particular by e-mail, and shall be invited to reply in the same manner within three (3) days whether they accept their enrollment in the Program and its operating conditions or not. A non-timely response on behalf of a selected candidate is tantamount to a refusal. If there are refusals, the Program Registrar shall inform those immediately following in the evaluation order from the scorecard.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for the LL.M. Program amount to 3.000 euros, payable in two instalments. Two scholarships amounting to 1.000 euros each may be awarded, as a reduction of the second instalment. Up to 30% of Greek students are exempt from tuition fees on the basis of income criteria determined by applicable law.

Scholarships

The Program awards up to two (2) scholarships amounting to 1.000€ (euros)/each to full-time students who have achieved the highest grades after the end of the examination of the first/winter semester. The scholarship applies as a reduction of the Programme’s second fee instalment.

Students who have already been awarded scholarship from other public or private institutions are not eligible for the Program’s scholarship.

Requirements for Student’s Visa

No visa is required in order to enter Greece for studies if you hold a valid passport or identity card from an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland. Nevertheless, applicants from countries outside the EU or the Schengen zone need a student visa. For more information, see here.

Depending on each applicant’s country of origin the duration of their respective student visa differs. For this reason, it is advisable to communicate well in advance with the Greek Embassy in their country for information on the procedure and on the time needed for the conclusion of the process.
