Competition and State Aids Law (Compulsory)

Union competition law is studied, in the light of relevant EU case-law, with its characteristic fields: business partnerships, abuse of a dominant position and merger control. The application of competition rules (in particular division of powers, system of legal exemption, administrative penalties, leniency program) is also considered in accordance with Regulation 1/2003, as well as civil liability for infringements of competition rules in light of Directive 2014/104.

Furthermore, state aid law is examined, also in the light of EU case-law. The concept of aid, the criteria for compatibility with the common market and the relevant procedural rules are studied. Specific cases of aid to firms in crisis and Services of General Economic Interest are examined.
